On the occasion of its participation at Design Miami/Basel 2017, Galerie Jacques Lacoste honoured an ensemble by Jean Royère, a major creator of 20th century Decorative Arts. Jacques Lacoste thus continued his commitment and study of the work of Jean Royère, a creator he defends and from whom he acquired part of his archives twenty years ago. On this year, Jacques Lacoste is exhibited a major new piece from Jean Royère’s repertoire, a Liane coat hanger.
The Liane light is an emblematic model of Jean Royère’s work and is an iconic piece of the 20th century Decorative Arts. The coat hanger variant is little known ; the model, which Galerie Jacques Lacoste presented in June, is for the moment the only known piece to have been shown to the public, and was acquired from the first owner, Monsieur B.
