A booth wholly dedicated to Jean Royère
Galerie Jacques Lacoste is delighted to announce its participation in the first edition of Design Miami / Paris which will take place in Hôtel de Maisons 51 rue de l’Université 75007, from 17 to 22 October 2023.
On this first edition the gallery will present some of Jean Royère (1902-1981)’s most emblematic pieces. An exceptional Polar Bear set (circa 1958) will be on display, comprising two armchairs and two footstools purchased directly from the first owner’s relatives. Also on display will be a Sphere coffee table (circa 1951) and a Hedgehog floor lamp (circa 1949), both also acquired from the descendants of their original owners.
A major figure in the history of 20th-century French decorative arts, Jean Royère (1902-1981) established himself in the line of great ensembliers décorateurs. He was keen to come up with a holistic vision for each interior design project. Throughout his career and successive commissions he developed an elegant signature. From 1930 to the early 1970s he designed furniture and lighting in a great variety of styles. His outstanding creativity and unfettered freedom were the driving forces of his unique career.
