Focus on Jean Royère for the opening of the Comité Matignon-Saint Honoré galleries
On Monday 14 October 2024, Jacques Lacoste gallery, located on 19, avenue Matignon, 75008 Paris will take part in the opening of the galleries forming Comité Matignon-Saint-Honoré with a special display focusing on Jean Royère.
On this occasion the gallery will present a handsome range of lighting and furniture designed by Jean Royère (1902-1981). The selection will highlight the outstanding creativity for which this major figure in the history of 20th-century furniture is known.
Amidst the pieces on show will be an Orange sofa in ash and fabric (circa 1940) which once belonged to Raymond Lopez, an architect and friend of Jean Royère ; a Sphere coffee table in gilded metal with a marble top (circa 1950) which was purchased from the relatives of the original owner; a rare coat rack in metal painted green (circa 1954) acquired from its original owner; a pair of upholstered low seats with a cylindrical base in oak (circa 1957) also purchased from the relatives of the original owner ; a Bouquet chandelier with 3 lights and a pair of Bouquet wall lights with 3 lights in patinated gilded metal (circa 1958) which the gallery acquired the relatives of the first owner.
The exhibition will run from 15 to 21 October 2024.
