SHOWCASING THE POST-WAR LUXURY
Jacques Lacoste gallery is delighted to announce it will participate in PAD Paris 2024 due to be held in Jardin des Tuileries from 3 to 7 April.
For this new Paris edition the gallery will focus on French style from the Immediate post-war, defined by the Art deco legacy as it emerged at the 1937 Paris World Fair and kept flourishing until the 1950s.
The selection will highlight the wide range of inspirations and the importance of this pivotal moment in the history of 20th-century decorative arts.
Among the pieces on display will be a set of pieces by Gilbert Poillerat including a coffee table basse in marble and wrought iron (circa 1937), a pair of wall lights in brown and glided wrought iron fer forgé brun with a sun-shaped base (circa 1940), a great wrought iron chandelier executed for the Compagnie des arts français (circa 1945). Also on display will be a set of pieces by André Arbus, an exceptional octogo- nal mirror by Serge Roche (formerly in the collection of the artist’s relatives). On top of these designs by Raymond Subes, Jean-Michel Frank, Max Ingrand, Georges Jouve will be shown.
